Spooky plans are afoot, we are putting some nasty ingredients into a big cauldron of fun for the little witches, wizards and goblins of calderdale to come and do the monster mash in our crypt.

Go Global!
Shrewdd Marketing has volunteered to help the World On Your Doorstep (WOYD) 2011 with it's marketing activities. The festival, which is planned for summer 2011, is hoping to raise £30,000 to help pay for the event. WOYD embraces the diversity of different cultures in West Yorkshire by celebrating the tradition of welcoming varying groups into the region.
The bank holiday weekend of Sunday 29th and Monday 30th August 2010 will see the Hebden Bridge Trades Club open it’s doors for the “World On Your Doorstep” fundraising event.

T shirt joy
things are starting to gather pace nicely now.
we have a great logo (thanks Tony) and a couple of events coming up in August. It's easier to look at the little steps than the whole picture, it feels more satisfying!
We have some new t-shirts being printed so i'm expecting lots of people to purchase one of these World on your Doorstep lovelies. I definitely want one!
I'll post details of price and places to buy once it's firmed up.

Success!
The first official launch for WOYD is on 29th-30th August this year at the Trades club. We're having two days of music and dj's and even a childrens disco.
It still feels scary to be taking on this huge task and we're flying by the seat of our pants but at least we have lift off now!
Get on your dancing shoes Hebden.

Well my life at the moment seems to consist of going to my day job the whizzing home back to Hebden Bridge and having a meeting with Helen or someone from the council or a muso. I love it but it also means I officially now have no life.
I'm trying to juggle World on your Doorstep with my full time job, my roller derby commitments, my friends and family and writing essays. But life is indeed for living so let's get busy trying...or something.
At least the sun is shining and Hebden is looking beautiful.
Task for this week is to sort the launch night at the Trades club once and for all. It's been more difficult than it should have been due to having no money to pay bands and it getting harder to persuade people to do it for beer and cake. I hope my next contact comes through or i'm lost.

Beginnings
ok here's the first post.
My life has currently been taken over with meetings, negotiations and lying in bed at night with my brain whirring.
Myself and Helen who are putting the festival on in July 2011 in gorgeous Hebden Bridge and we are doing something mad, out of our comfort zone, exciting, maddening, tiring and fun. We hope that a merry band of Hebdenites will join us in our journey and help make World On Your Doorstep 2011 a roaring success.
It seems like so far away yet so near and a meeting with the council this week brought home just how much needs doing and thinking about (complaints about mud on the path during heavy rainfall...really....really!).
So any volunteers, bands, performers, jugglers, clowns, cabaret acts, dj's, world music acts and acoustic performers in the West Yorkshire/ South Pennines/ Manchester area who want to lend a hand please get in touch.
We can't give you big money but we can make a good cake!
